Conference “Decentralization: true benefit for patients & Les États généraux du travail social”

In a constantly changing context and in order to face important challenges for the future, the Ordre de travailleurs sociaux et des thérapeutes conjugaux et familiaux du Québec (OTSTCFQ) initiated in 2023 the États généraux du travail social.

This approach is the result of joint efforts to define the major orientations and to mobilize all the players in social work. These États généraux are the perfect opportunity to propose ideas and possible solutions that will allow social work to meet the needs of the population for the years to come.

The consultations of Les États généraux take place between April and October 2023, and as part of this panel, participants will discuss the themes, the consultation mechanisms and the potential follow-up to be given to the process.

With:

  • Pierre Paul Malenfant, Co-president of Estates General on Social Work and president of OTSTCFQ.

Facilitator:

  • Sylvie Tremblay, RPCU’s GM.

The RPCU is a proud partner of the orientation committee of Les États généraux du travail social.

Support user’s voice

Summary: The tour of the health centers of the Collège des médecins du Québec in 2022 revealed that user committees are most often the poor relatives in the organization of care. Their voice is ignored, and user committees are considered more of a necessary evil than a true partner, or a bridge between the establishment and the patient. As part of a customer service approach, user committees should be considered and prioritized to improve care trajectories. The Collège addressed the situation in the context of its comments on Bill 15 and insisted that the voice of users resonate even in the office of the Minister and within the board of directors of the future Health Quebec agency. The Collège intends to deploy means and collaborations to help carry the voice of users within the health network.

Biography: Dr. Mauril Gaudreault obtained his doctorate in medicine from Université Laval in 1973 and practiced family medicine until 2011. In 2008, he joined the team of the Collège des médecins du Québec as an administrator. Since October 19, 2018, he has served as president of the Collège and its Board of Directors, as well as the function of spokesperson for the order. Concerned with the protection of the public, interdisciplinarity and social responsibility, these subjects are part of its values and the objectives to be achieved within the framework of the Virage 2023 strategic plan for a Collège closer to the people.

President of Collège des médecins du Québec
